Garret Grove's Journalism Portfolio

Photojournalism has been a part of my journey since my introduction into journalism.

During my sophomore year, my journalism advisor Mr. Terry Cassreino made me and other students in the foudations of journalism class take one photograph a day for an academic quarter to help gain the confidence to go out into our school community and document what is happening via photography.

Even though that particular assignment stopped, I never stopped taking photos. And to this day, I still do -whether it's for social media, a special assignment for the yearbook, or just for fun.

Sophomore Year

I took this photo for a trip that the Saint Joseph Catholic Schol Band went on for a local school's Mardi Gras Day parade. Was featured on my school's website www.stjoebruins.com.

Junior Year

This was taken at a home football game as the sun set over St Joseph's football field.

Senior Year

Above commemorates a special assignment I did for the yearbook. Our school has a No Shave November fundraiser every year. Each student who participates in it has to pay $15 for the entire month. The money goes to the kids of Blair E Batson Children's Hospital, the only children's hospital in Mississippi.

I took photos of senior Gabe Blaylock every school day for a month for this assignment and above is an overview of those 30 days. His facial hair grows so quickly, he had stubble the first day of the fundraiser!

Junior Wyatt Davis (Left) and Seniors Eli Carter (Middle) and Covey Lockhart (Right) were honored as Eagle Scouts on the Saint Jospeh Campus. This photo was taken at the conclusion of their ceremony.

Photo taken of Local Master Gardener John Malanchak gardening with children at a local Hindu temple. This was taken for a story I did while an intern for the Madison County Journal.

I took a series of photos on a trip that the Saint Joseph Catholic Schol Band went on. They played for a local elementary school's Mardi Gras Day parade. Was featured on the BruinNewsNow Twitter and Instagram Pages.

As a local guide, I also take photos and write reviews for resteraunts on Google. My reviews and photos have been seen by more than 10,200 people on the internet. See editing page for more information on that and click below to view my profile!
